A new introduction from one of Dan Hinkley's seed collection made in the Pontic Alps of North-eastern Turkey at about 2000m, in the autumn of 2000. Where this very hardy perennial species inhabits grassy mountainsides and open woodlands, forming clumps of ovate-lanceolate leaves with several upright stems to 1m tall bearing yellowish orange butterscotch flowers, June-July. Easily grown in any fertile drained soil in sun or part shade.
