Ginkgo (Ginkgoaceae) BSWJ8753

biloba

A wonderful relic genus which used to be common place even in Britain 160 million years ago. But now more commonly seen as a roadside tree when we travel in Korea, where it is highly valued for its autumnal yellow foliage and tasty nuts. An opportunity to obtain young seedlings of this most ancient of plants, but be warned though not to plant female trees where the smell of the decomposing fruit may be a problem. A tolerant and easily cultivated tree in good soil preferably in sun.
