From limestone areas of Manchuria and Korea, a much coveted and sought after woodland perennial with orbicular almost butterfly-like leaves, emerging with a distinct violet tinge in early spring. Slowly forming a tuft of wiry stems with fleeting lavender-blue cupped flowers emerging with the first of the leaves. Height 10-15cm, spread to 23cm. Requires partial-full shade and a 'woodsy' well drained soil.
