Kalopanax (Araliaceae)

Having seen this remarkable tree in the wild, we turned weak kneed and just had to have it. A small tree just brimming with character, bearing scattered stout prickled on the branches. Carrying a wonderful display of Acer crossed with Fatsia-like deeply 5-7 palmately lobed leaves. Inflorescences are terminal slenderly branched cymes of yellowish flowers followed by an abundance of purple-black fruit.
