A most unusual climbing evergreen shrub, from a plant family that is seldom encountered in temperate gardens. With few restrained twining stems 3-4m long, with opposite pairs of parchment-textured elliptic-ovate leaves to 10cm long. While the clusters of white flowers are held in the upper leaf axils, as will be the succeeding peculiarly shaped and ornamental compound orange fruit. From one of our seed collections gathered in a remote area of northern Vietnam close to the border with China. Best grown with some shelter in sun or part shade.
