Osmorhiza (Apiaceae) BSWJ1607

aristata

A very unusual and much admired elegant woodland perennial with more than just quiet charm, best grown in small colonies. With short erect stems only 40-80cm tall, carrying delicate looking feathery foliage bearing umbels of compound white flowers, followed by curious elongated retentive seed heads. From one of our seed collections from a damp alpine forest in the Central Mountains of Taiwan, near Hohuanshan in the autumn of 1993. Easily grown in a moisture retentive leafy soil in full to part shade.
