An unusual sub-shrub we collected seed of in a remote area in the far north of Vietnam close to the Chinese border in the autumn of 2006. With long arching yellow-browning stems to 1.5m long, radiating from a central clump, with long-elliptic serrated leaves in opposite pairs. Bearing terminal clusters of multiple long pendant spikes of small white flowers with large persistent calyces. Best grown in a fertile drained soil in either sun or part shade. Identity still doubtful may be Colebrookes oppositifolia.
