North American woodland bulbous perennial, closely related to Trillium. Compact perennial with basal pairs of veined, dull green leaves, sometimes marked brown. February to March bearing clusters of up-ward facing three petalled flowers with purple inner petals and greenish white outer petals. For humus rich moist well drained soil, in shade.
