From seed I collected in the steep gorge approaching Baoxing, Sichuan China in 2000 with Dan Hinkley. Where this impressive grass with broad pleated leaves stood to 2m tall in part shade bearing inflorescences to 80cm long arching under the weight of the ripe seed. Possessing reasonable hardiness as it has survived in our garden for some years. Best grown if full sun or light shade in a drained fertile soil with some protection for the roots in winter.
