A robust species forming a substantial clump of broad stem-clasping pleated leaves to 35cm long on strong upright stems to 1.5m tall. With a terminal short upwardly branched panicle of large dark mahogany flowers July-August, held on white-woolly stems. Our collection from the island of Chejudõ (Quelpart) in Southern Korea in 1997. Easily grown in a humus enriched soil with adequate drainage in sun or part shade.
