A tuberous/fleshy rooted perennial species closely related to Veratrum which it resembles at times. Differing by its clumps of linnear to lance-shaped pale green leaves to 1m tall in this species which we collected seed of at particularly high elevation. At 3425m close to the summit of Volcán Zunil in the winter of 2001, where they formed a colony with the old branched flowering stems to 1.7m tall, still retaining the seed capsules which had succeeded the white green centred flowers born in July. Best grown in a humus enriched soil with severe drainage in sun to light shade.
