A truly remarkable textured evergreen Chilean shrub or small tree, which is naturally a conical shape with magnificent deep green divided fern-like thick-textured foliage. Bearing from late May to July remarkable scarlet yellow-centred spidery flowers (typical Proteaceae) in short racemes on the red-brown velvety stems. Probably best in an acidic soil, growing better for us in a poor very well drained soil in full sun exposed to strong winds (not freezing winds). Growing under high nutrient or damp (soft) conditions can severely affect its hardiness.
