Vallea (Elaeocarpaceae) BSWJ14366

stipularis

From one of our high altitude seed collections gathered from one of Colombia's cool Paramos. Where they formed small tidy evergreen trees or largish shrubs, bearing rounded to ovate parchment textured small grey-green conspicuously veined leaves. With terminal large to small pendant panicles on slender rust-coloured stems of bright pink frilly-edged campanulate flowers for many months from early summer. Best grown in a sheltered position or a warm wall, where the soil does not dry out, in an acid to neutral drained soil.
