Description

A single stemmed tree to 6m tall with unbranched trunk from the extreme north of northern Vietnam on the border with China. With large leaves, for this group that has two whorls of leaflets, composed of up to 11 large dark green leaflets to 30 cm long held on long purple petioles to 30 cm long. Bearing a large terminal paniculate inflorescence with the main axis to 75 cm long composed of many racemes of black globose fruit, a result of the small yellow-green flowers September to November. A new species to cultivation. Easily grown in sun to light shade in a fertile moisture retentive soil sheltered from cold winds.
