Description

Forming a small plant to only 1.2m tall where we collected seed of this species on Fan Xi Pan, the highest mountain in North Vietnam with Dan Hinkley in 1999. With few broad leaves to 40cm long on upright dark red stems bearing a terminal inflorescence of deep yellow flowers appearing from behind broad dark red clasping bracts late summer into autumn with us. A strong grower which we grow in an open field, easily grown in full sun or part shade in a leafy moist soil, protect from severe frost with a thick mulch as we have done for several years in open fields.
