Description
From high up in the very cold mountains of Ehime on the island of Shikoku Japan a delicate looking woodland species which forms a tuber. Here it formed large colonies of thin textured divided grey green leaves of rounded leaflets emerging rusty orange in early spring as the creamy-white purple stripped flowers expand March-May. Forming loose enchanting carpets of fresh foliage in early spring with as many as 10 flowers on each plant. Height to 15cm. Easily grown in a humus rich soil which is well drained in full to part shade.
